St Clement Danes Church and Lord Dowding Statue
What to expect
A church standing on its own 'island' among the London traffic. Although a church has stood here since the 9th Century, what you can see today was rebuilt by the famous architect Sir Christopher Wren, after the Great Fire of London. If you look closely, you can find lots of clues to its links with the RAF.
Directions
Located on a traffic island in the centre of The Strand roadway at its Aldwych end, the church is in walking distance of mainline Charing Cross station and the nearest underground stations are Temple (District and Circle Lines) and Holborn (Central or Piccadilly Lines).
