Royal Air Force Memorial
What to expect
The national memorial to the sacrifice of the Royal Air Force and its related services, this collaboration between a world-renowned sculptor and architect is a fitting monument to personnel of the Royal Air Force.
A striking gold eagle, standing atop its monolithic pedestal, looks out over the River Thames as it has since 1923: it is just as well appreciated from the river as standing on the Embankment.
Directions
The memorial is located on Whitehall Steps at the Victoria Embankment, the north bank of the River Thames between Hungerford Bridge and the Houses of Parliament. The nearest tube station is Westminster on the Circle, District or Jubilee Lines. The closest mainline rail station is Charing Cross.
