Comparing a Sea King
Inspired by flying with his father in a Wessex helicopter, Prince William transferred his commission to the RAF in January 2009 and was promoted to Flight Lieutenant.
Prince William trained at RAF Shawbury, just 27 miles from this location. He spent two years piloting Sea King helicopters on numerous search and rescue missions from RAF Valley in Anglesey. Afterwards, he served for a further two years as an Air Ambulance Pilot in East Anglia.
