Winston Churchill

On 8 May 1940, a vote of no confidence was heard in parliament against Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.

On 10 May 1940, as German troops invaded Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, Chamberlain resigned and a new wartime government, made up of politicians from all parties was formed. Winston Churchill was chosen to lead it, even though he was not popular with everyone.
