Squadron Leader Al McLean
Squadron Leader Alistair (Al) McLean served as a pilot in Nimrod maritime patrol aircraft during the 1970s.
Al flew the Nimrod in its Cold War role of shadowing the Soviet surface and submarine fleets. He would also take part in many NATO maritime exercises and perform a number of search and rescue flights.
Al went on to become an instructor on the Scottish Aviation Bulldog and later joined the RAF Museum Cosford as Curator.
