Reverend Eleanor Rance
Reverend Eleanor Rance became the RAF’s first female Anglican chaplain in August 1999 and served at RAF stations in the UK before being deployed to Iraq in May 2004. After a challenging four-month tour of duty at Basra Air Station, Eleanor returned home, becoming Staff Chaplain to Air Command and responsible for recruitment into the RAF Chaplains’ Branch. Eleanor Rance left the RAF in May 2010 and is now an Anglican Priest in a parish on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire.
