In a setting that is still an active airfield offering modern and vintage aircraft the museum uses hundreds of still and moving images to transport the visitor back into the lives of the thousands of people who operated the airfield in the defence of London.

The museum and its associated Memorial are easily accessible by car in the village of North Weald. Public transport includes London Underground trains to Epping (Central Line) and buses from Harlow and Epping [420a].
