Junkers JU 87 G-2 ‘Stuka’
The Ju 87 ‘Stuka’ dive-bomber was one of the most feared aircraft during the Second World War. Its fixed undercarriage and cranked wing gave the Ju 87 a menacing appearance and the scream of its ‘Trumpets of Jericho’ sirens as it dived spread terror among soldiers and civilians alike. It carried one 1800kg (3970lb) bomb under the fuselage or a combination of bombs up to this maximum under the fuselage and wings. During the Battle of Britain Ju 87s attacked British airfields and radar stations but proved highly vulnerable, suffering heavy losses. Our example was rebuilt as an anti-tank aircraft and is one of only two surviving examples.
