Paveway II Laser Guided Bomb
Type of bomb used during the Falklands Conflict
The Paveway II in front of you is a laser guided bomb which saw its first operational use by the RAF in the last days of the Falklands Conflict. It consists of a standard 1,000lb to which is attached a laser seeker head and guidance unit to the front and a stabilising tail unit.
During the Falklands Conflict a Forward Air Controller on the ground would illuminate a target with a laser which the Paveway’s computer would detect and steer the bomb toward after release.
