Immersion suit worn by Harrier pilot Bob Iveson

This suit was worn by Squadron Leader Bob Iveson when he was shot down over the Falklands Islands.

In preparation for the attack on Goose Green, two Harriers from the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes, attacked Argentinian positions at low-level around Goose Green. Bob’s Harrier was hit by anti-aircraft fire on his third attack of the target area. The aircraft disintegrated around him and Bob was forced to eject.

Despite suffering concussion, Bob evaded capture and was rescued by helicopter three days later.
