A Pilot’s Perspective
Wing Commander Jim Schofield
Jim Schofield gives a test pilot’s perspective on the continuing development of the F-35
Jim Schofield was one of the first three pilots to land an F-35 on a ship at night. Since the age of four he wanted to be a pilot. After six attempts Jim joined the RAF and served on Harriers before qualifying as a test pilot. He went on to work on the F-35 test programme with the US Navy’s Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 (VX-23) at Naval Air Station Patuxent River.
