Was one of 16 Victors deployed to Ascension Island

Air-to-air refuelling by Victor tankers was crucial in air operations during the Falklands Conflict. In-flight refuelling greatly extended the reach of aircraft thereby improving their ability to undertake missions in support of the Task Force.

Victors operated from Ascension Island in the middle of the Atlantic, approximately halfway between the UK and the Falklands.

This aircraft was involved in supporting Vulcans attacking the airfield at Stanley, Nimrods conducting maritime reconnaissance and Harriers ferrying to HMS Hermes.
