Flight Lieutenant John ‘Jo’ Lancaster DFC

Flight Lieutenant Jo Lancaster trained as a bomber pilot. After finishing flying operations, Jo joined the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment as a test pilot.

Messerschmitt Me 410s were twin-engined fighters, successors to the Bf 110. At least three examples were flown from Germany to the UK in 1945 – here, John describes one of those delivery flights.
