The Story of the Battle of Britain

The Battle of Britain was one of the most important battles fought by this country in the whole of the last century. Fewer than 3,000 men of the Royal Air Force defeated a much larger Luftwaffe and prevented Hitler from achieving the air superiority he needed to support an invasion. The story of how that invasion was prevented is told in The Scramble Experience within The Wing, the Battle of Britain Memorial’s visitor centre on the White Cliffs just outside Folkestone.
