Wing Commander Tony Whitehouse
During the Battle of Britain, Sydney Anthony Hollingsworth ‘Tony’ Whitehouse flew Hurricanes with No. 501 Squadron, where he remained until July 1941. Tony was then posted to 152 Operational Training Unit as an instructor, returning to operational flying with No. 167 Squadron in April 1942. This was followed by a posting to India in 1943, where he commanded a Wing of Thunderbolt fighter-bombers supporting ground operations in Burma. Tony left the RAF in 1946.
